We are pleased to share a publication featuring an interview with Gabriela Bar, who contributes to the CERTAIN Project as an Ethics Advisor and member of the Ethics Board.
In the interview, Gabriela Bar discusses what Trustworthy AI requires in practice – going beyond policies, declarations and one-off compliance exercises.
The conversation addresses some of the key challenges she encounters in her work with EU-funded research projects and organisations developing AI systems, including how to make ethics actionable, how to integrate ethical considerations throughout the AI lifecycle, how to recognise early warning signs, and how to manage risks in a proportionate and continuous way.
According to Gabriela Bar, effective AI ethics governance is closely linked to the quality of decision-making throughout a project. Proper governance frameworks should help teams identify risks early, ask the right questions and make informed choices without creating unnecessary complexity.
Through her involvement in the CERTAIN Project, Gabriela Bar shares her experience at the intersection of law, ethics and technology, supporting the development of responsible approaches to artificial intelligence.
She is grateful to the CERTAIN Project team for the invitation and the opportunity to contribute her perspective on responsible AI development.
